Distinguished...


This is a Spiny-Tailed Agama which are normally found in the deserts of Northern Africa. They eat mostly leaves, blossoms and seeds, from which they are able to extract enough moisture to survive in hot, dry areas, without drinking water. They dig burrows and plug the mouth of burrow with dirt when they are inside to keep moisture inside and keep the burrow cool. It is a pleasure and honor to have such a distinguished visitor to the islands all the way from Africa. The way he holds his head up so high. He certainly appears proud of his heritage. That is great...

So did you see it out somewhere loose or was it a pet?
If it was loose, I hope it doesn't eat leaves, blossoms, and seeds of endangered indigenous Hawaiian plants as an invasive species ;-)

It is hard to tell...but I shot him right through the smudgy glass at the Honolulu Zoo where he is being forcibly kept against his will for various VISA violations with Homeland Security... :)
