Imprisoned...

She knows how much I love her. It is unquestionable. She can see it in my eyes. I know she yearns to be with me. Where her spirit could soar freely. Where my reassuring touch would calm her fluttering anxious heart. I too can see it in her eyes. But alas, my love bird. The bars erected by those who jealously guard and covet her astounding beauty prevent our union. So I study every curve. Every soft downy feather. The various shades of somber reflected light giving her beautiful dulcet tones of brilliant color. Burned into my memory. So I can relive her beauty for an eternity. Inch by inch. Detail by detail. In glorious heart pounding recollection. For I must leave her now. I have no choice. So I peer one last time into those beautiful eyes. And gaze at her with all the adoring glorious love I can muster. Penetrating the depths of her eternally enraptured soul. And through my wash of tears. I recognize the unfathomable loss of my one true love. I slowly and inaudibly say goodbye. Overwhelmed by the imminent collapse of my sorrowful breaking heart. Plummeting into the depths of despair for a life which has lost all meaning...

But luckily. The zoo reopens in the morning and I'll be back for more self-imposed dramatic heartache. And this time I will sneak in birdseed. And wire snips...
