The boys did a wonderful job of leading the Hawaiian march in Waikiki by blowing the 'ohe pu (bamboo instrument) and pu (conch), despite their shyness and nerves. They helped to kahea, or call, the ancestors to be present with the living to bear witness to the event and to provide spiritual support and guidance during hard and trying times. Big mahalo to bruddah Blaine for capturing an important and special memory for us. I am so truly proud of everyone. Especially them...

Then she turned around and she caught the early morning surfers catching the first waves of the New Year. Although the waves weren't on the Hawai'i winter scale of the North Shore.
