Brilliant...

Image
All I can say is that Ke Akua is brilliant. Beautifully brilliant...

Furrowed...

Image
Rest your furrowed brow. You are supposed to be carefree...

Pride...

Image
Nothing like a mother's pride and joy in simple things...

Sharing...

Image
Nothing like children sharing snacks peacefully, generously, and with Aloha...

Smokin'...

Image
This bruddah was smoking some serious moa, or chicken, at the Farm Fair...

Punalu'u...

Image
It was a fun day at Punalu'u Black Sand beach in the waning days of Summer...

Faraway...

Image
Sometimes to envision the beautiful future. And see things far, far away. You don't have to peer through the looking glass. You just need to peer through your heart...

Princess...

Image
You can't beat a pony ride for making a little princess feel like a big Princess...

Scary...

Image
Not everything adults think will be fun for children is fun...

Rituals...

Image
Last night I awoke and looked outside. A group of people were gathered around in the park below my building with lit candles. I could sense a profound ceremony. I wasn't part of it. But quietly observed from way above in the sky. Quietly. The tops of the trees swayed back and forth in unison although there wasn't any wind. Sensing Dementors nearby which were descending upon the group to disrupt their peace and love. I sent down the largest Patronus charm I could muster. Thinking about all that is good in life. Love. Light. Laughter. Alohaloha pumehana. Basically, I thought about you...

Friends...

Image
I came back to my original blog after finally figuring out how to get more space for more pictures. And my beautiful family and friends from around the world returned to the old and familiar. Mahalo no e Ke Akua. Thank you Heavenly Father. Mahalo no e na kupuna. Thank you ancestors. Mahalo no ia 'oukou pakahi apau. Thank you to each and everyone of you. Let love, light and Aloha permeate throughout the world...

Deep Fried...

Image
At the Farm Fair at Bishop Museum, this booth had encrusted potato and other wonderful breaded and coated foods... Carefully placed in the boiling hot oil... Don't splash hot oil on your hand and don't burn your knuckles... It plops down and disappears in the tumultuous bubbling cauldron of hot liquid fats... Watching the whole floating armada of crumbly goodness toss and turn in the frothy oily sea... Some are a scrumptious shade of golden crumbly brown... Time to rescue them from the torture... Let the oil drip back into the wok... Sprinkled with a mixture of spices and powdery granulated yummy stuff... A little sprinkling of salt of the earth... Carefully lifted up and placed in paper dishes... Hot and ready to consume in a delicious crunchy euphoric snackalicious display of fine eatery...

Waiting...

Image
Sometimes you put life on hold waiting for that big swell to come in so you can ride the waves towards your dreams. Waiting. Waiting. Watching the horizon. Waiting. As life passes you by. Paddling brings your dreams to you. As well as the rest of the world beyond your horizon. So don't wait around. Paddle. Paddle. Rest. And paddle some more...

Palehua...

Image
Standing up at Palehua and looking down toward Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head. The traditional cultural landscape of my ancestors has been so severely altered. But it is still there. I can feel it. And if I close my eyes. And pray hard enough. I can actually see it...

Cheesy...

Ho'ailona...

Image
Last week, I bought Koa and Elliott an ukulele songbook. The first song Elliott tried to learn was Hawai'i Pono'i. Our National Anthem. He learned most of it pretty quick. After he played, I went to take a shower. I looked out the window and saw an iwi po'o, or human skull in the clouds. Then a little half rainbow appeared. I yelled to Elliott to get my camera and took a picture without getting the camera wet. It is a simple message from the ancestors. Hawai'i. He Pono i...

Healthy...

Image
Once in awhile I take the boys to a Fastfood Restaurant, like Arby's, to show them what not to eat in life. It is purely educational. No, really...

Memories...

Image
The perfect portrait for our memory book. Just you and me. And the Frappuccino. And that little newspaper thingy...

Ripping...

Image
This bruddah was ripping the small swell at Kewalo's...

No Greater...

Image
There is no greater love. Than the little sacrifices we make. On a daily basis. In the name of love...

Unclear...

Image
At first glance, I was unsure whether this little dog was coming or going...

Cute...

Image
I didn't realize that baby cows were so cute. I am willing to give up my quest for a pony in exchange for a calf instead if my apartment will allow it. And of course, a vegetarian lifestyle to go along... (and upon second look. I'm not sure this is even a cow....)

Fun...

Image
Some people refuse to have fun when given the opportunity. And others are really having a great time on the inside. But they don't want you to know it...

Windswept...

Image
Windswept is fine. Even if it isn't particularly windy outside...

Pony...

Image
I want a Pony. But my condominium doesn't allow pets except for fish. Of course, there is always a Seahorse but it really isn't the same...

Alive...

Image
Barbershop Quartets are alive and well in Hawai'i. This one performed at the Honolulu Symphony event at the Waikiki Shell. Fantastic fun-filled harmonies...

Serious...

Image
This was some serious girl talk. I made sure not to eavesdrop...
