A kupu ka ʻāina, sprout of the land, of Molokai once told me that when they went to war, they lit all their imu and stoked the raging fires in preparation. I shared with him that when we go to war against the dark spiritual forces, we ask Ke Akua to light and stoke the fires of Heaven...

I walked into my office the other day and my eyes stared straight at this happy kupuna in an old ki leaf leaning against my bookshelf. I called my secretary in to my office to bear witness. When she saw it...she lit up with chicken skin. Beautiful...

A wonderful mural in progress as part of a series of murals emerging in the Kaka'ako District. This particular one, however, is of Hawaiian akua, including Kāne, Kū, Kanaloa and Lono, in their human forms. Part of the inspiration to the group of street artists is coming directly from the akua themselves via gifted people with 'ike pāpālua, or second sight.
