Today I received a telephone call from a Hawaiian friend whom I have yet to meet in person. He sends me messages and things of interest from another amazing Hawaiian. In our discussion, he relayed a short story to me about a kumu hula who asked another kumu hula to write a song. As he explained the song which had been written, I listened to the love saga about a husband, wife, chief, and a love carrying gourd. It truly hit home for me. There are no words to express my true appreciation for my kupuna who know my life. The ancestors who know my weakness. Who know my needs. Who know my destiny. Who know the secrets of my own heart. And in their own subtle and beautiful way, give me the guidance and direction I need. Time and time again. My life is an amazing beautiful dream. I am continuously humbled. Forever grateful. Ke Akua. You are always there for me. Surrounding me with a garland of love and forgiveness as I climb higher and higher towards You...
