'Ahahui Ka'ahumanu...
The Ka'ahumanu Society was formulated in 1863 and established in 1864. Princess Victoria Kamamalu formed the society after her Aunt Ka'ahumanu. A favorite wife of Kamehameha who along with Kamehameha II, Liholiho, abolished the oppressive Kapu system and set the pathway for Christianity to come to the islands. 5000 miles away, Henry Opukahaia, also set the stage for Ke Akua to return to Hawai'i. Henry died in Cornwall, Connecticut, in 1818. The kapu system was abolished in 1819. The first missionaries arrived at Kamakahonu in 1820. The 'Ahahui Ka'ahumanu ended up being supported by Catholics and others. These members proudly represent their Hawaiian Royal Society in the Kamehameha Day Parade...
