Waimea Valley...

I spent the day at Waimea Valley helping to take care of the 'aina. The physical workout was much needed. The collective effort by many exemplified the aloha not only for the land. But for each other's spirit as well. It has been a long time since I got dirty and into the land. My kupuna knew exactly what I needed today. The land of Hewahewa. Kamehameha's highest priest and counselor who was instrumental in helping him to unite and conquer the various island kingdoms into the singular Hawaiian Kingdom. Hewahewa was also pivotal in opening the pathway for Ke Akua to come to these shores through his recognition of the Creator and open disavowment of the oppressive polytheistic kapu system. It now represents the Kingdom of Heaven. With all the vast grandeur and amazing scenic beauty that is Waimea. It was these tiny white flowers which opened my cluttered and aching heart today.
