Not sure where Dad got this photo from. But it said 1892. At ʻIolani Palace. A year before all hell broke loose...

It hasn't changed all that much there in appearance, except it looks like they weren't obsessive about cutting grass as much back then. If you let the grass grow a little, you protect the lawn from evaporation and stays nice and green without so much precious water. Smart, them.
