Love...
I am very proud of my son, Elliott, and his classmate, Micah. They collected much needed supplies, and put together a care package for a Native Hawaiian family that has been without a house for over five years. With a storm approaching, the toys, clothes, food, medicine, toiletries and other necessities for a bearable existence will come in handy. This wasn't a one time interaction either. Meaningful relationships have been established and profound lessons on the Blessings of Life, and what truly matters in Life, are reflected upon, and are learned. They are committed to continuing a journey with this 'ohana who has suffered greatly over the years, to continue to provide Hope.
Eadeen will be starting school soon and Rosemary isn't far behind. We visited them tonight as they set up their shelter on a busy street corner for the night. Their experiences will be shared with other classmates to help provide a greater understanding and appreciation for what many people take for granted. Like children born into homelessness and never possessing a room, let alone a bed, of their own, for their entire existence. The boys understand that there are deep seated and complex rooted issues surrounding this whole situation. There will be no easy quick fixes. But through the Power of Love...we are in it for the long haul. No man, woman or child left behind...
