Koa and his class went to Kaiona Beach Park in Waimanalo for his last day of school. How cool is that...

Legacies...
A banana tree will only bear fruit once in a lifetime. Never again. Then it dies. We should all look at our lives and consider what kind of soft and sweet "fruit" we will bear for the world in our lifetime. And I'm not talking about children either. Everyone has fruit to bear...

Concerned...
Elliott looks concerned about possibly not surviving the impending carnival ride. Koa looks ambivalent and has accepted his fate...

Lochs...
The lochs of Pearl Harbor were so named for the beautiful fresh water oysters which lived there. Our own Hawaiian pearl. The silent fish. Now the beautiful lochs are so polluted with oil, diesel, petroleum and carcinogenic chemicals from the pervasive United States military industrial complex which has established a home there. The silent fish are gone. Replaced by silent behemoth transient nuclear submarines. Our very own Loch Mess Monster...

War...
In the old days, it was an act of war to come in and cut down the coconut trees of a village. Symbolically emasculating our future. When we plant coconut trees. We know they will bear sustenance for our mo'opuna. Food. Water. Wood. Fiber. For the third generation...

Secret Forest...
I stumbled upon an enchanted secret forest high up in the Wai`anae Mountain Range. In the Wao Akua. It was eerily quiet even though I heard many beautiful birds singing all the way to this particular spot. I found myself in such a deep intense peace. Truly one with the Earth. One with my ancestors. In my rightful place in this crazy unpredictable Universe. I am so thankful for this experience. I saw a tree branch move of its own accord. I'm not kidding. Honest. It slowly moved. On its own...

Suspicious...
This motorcycle was hot on my trail and tailing me for quite awhile. I suspected some kind of secret agent or spy. My hunches are usually pretty accurate about these types of things. Usually...

Candy Apples...
These looked really nice. But I'm not really into them. And I didn't want to get the boys started on them either. If you are going to eat an apple. I don't think they should be covered with caramelized anything or hard sugar. Kind of defeats the benefit of nature's healthful bounty. But chocolate covered strawberries. Hmmm....Alright. I am a hypocrite. Actually, Cacao is the food of the Gods. So there. Take that Hippo creep...

New Friend...
I made a gorgeous new friend today. Kind of shy. But so beautiful and loving. A good listener. Non-judgmental. Everything in a friend I strive to be. Except don't ask me to lick your face...

Finders Keepers...
Yes. The Fair was playing Lifehouse's Hanging By A Moment over the loudspeakers. One of my favorite songs. And these fun fair goers were living it up. I try to hang around immediately below the ride because when they go upside down. They tend to lose things. I scored two dollars and 46 cents worth of pocket change, a watch, a necklace, some candy, two hair clips, one false eyelash and a bra...

Starstruck...
Koa seems to have my curse. So easily Starstruck. Not by famous or powerful people. But by simple and commonly beautiful people. Always a weakness. As he shall learn...
