As I gazed upon immeasurable Beauty... So delicate and refined... I quieted my enraptured beating Heart... And in the breathless silence... I pondered this incredible sight... A blossom beyond compare... 'Tis I thought unequaled in this dreary World... Until I heard the wind... Gently whispering through the trees... Your Beautiful Name...

I visited the large stone monument to akua Pele which rests at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park near Kīlauea . As I walked around the monument, it appears that Pele's older brother, the shark-god, Kamohoali'i, has also made his presence known...

Koa...

Image
When my son Koa stops by my office, he likes to explore his heritage. He wears an 'ahu'ula, a feather cape, and holds a newa, or war club made by ʻŌlohe Kaha Toledo, fashioned from the bill of a large Marlin. It is very dense, almost like stone. He also bears a Māori staff of Ke Akua...'Io...a beautiful gift from Māori brother Carmen Hetaraka...
