O'ahu...

Image
Yellow is the official color. And yellow looks fantastic in the bright sunlight...

Apple Store...

Image
The boys check out the latest offerings from Apple at the local computer store. I take them there to get their homework done on the latest greatest computers which are far better than the one at home...

Last Call...

Image
Last call for food before entering the stadium for the football game...

Sharing...

Image
It is awesome to share life's beauty with another person...

Surges...

Image
Last man standing. Or last two men standing...

News...

Image
Apparently it can't be all bad news with that grin. Or is it a grimace? I can never tell. Alright. Look at the headlines. Even though I am an eternal optimist. Grimace has my vote...

Arrival...

Image
I can see it in your eyes. It is coming. You see it. I feel it. May Ke Akua be present with us more than ever before. I will do my best. And then some...

ATM...

Image
Koa knows daddy gets money from these machines but he isn't quite sure how to work them yet. I hope he stays that way until he is at least eighteen...

Blocked...

Image
This tree was trying to tell me something. But I was so preoccupied with work related matters and other issues that I wasn't receptive at all. My bad. Maybe next time. In fact. Hopefully next time. Every message and sign is becoming increasingly critical. No matter how seemingly small or insignificant. I am confident my kupuna will find another medium...

So Close...

Image
Everynight. I dream about the foods I loved as a child. I know they exist on the other side of the glass. Yet I can only yearn for the tastes of the foods which bring me comfort from happier and more secure times long ago. And every morning. I wake up hungry. But I don't complain. I wait patiently for a better life. And I don't bother my fellow man. I wait quietly. Unnoticed. On my best behavior. In the eyes of God. So I make it to Heaven. For surely. There must be food in Heaven...

Canoes...

Image
Canoes line the beach in Waikiki. They are used for locals in sporting events. And to take tourists out for a spin. 100 years ago. They were mostly used for fishing. And 200 years before that. They lined the beach in preparation to launch a fleet against another island in an attack for supremacy. My how times have changed...

Beat...

Image
The boys practice their drumming at the local music store. Top of the line drum sets. Air conditioning. No complaining neighbors. What else could you ask for...

Healthy...

Image
The boys try to eat healthy with a balanced diet. Especially at dinner since it is hard to control what they eat at lunch time. Pork chop. Mushrooms. Carrots. Green beans. Lettuce. Tomato. And of course. They wash it all down with a gallon of chocolate milk...

Miss Hawaii U.S.A....

Image
All smiles. I know that the way she waves is because her underarm is ticklish. I see it all the time at parades...

Tuba View...

Image
In case you ever wondered what a parade looks like from a tuba's point of view. In case you ever wondered...

Sailors...

Image
Fine members of the Navy. I would have a hard time in life if I had to wear that much stark white all the time...

Infectious...

Image
Makes me happy too...

Lessons...

Image
Planning. Selections. Decisions. Implementation. Patience. High expectations. More patience. Applies to much in life as a strategy for success. In catching the objects of your desire...

Fashion...

Image
Personal style. For some. It says a lot. To some...

Held...

Image
Koa still likes me to pick him up and carry him. Especially when he is sleepy in the car and we return home late at night. Elliott does too but at ten years old. He is getting too big. But I pick him up once in awhile and hug and hold him. I know he still enjoys that even though he is older now. And to tell you the truth. I still enjoy it too...

Impressions...

Image
There was a time when my self-worth was based upon what others thought of me. Then as I grew older. My self-worth became simply based upon what I thought of myself. As I get older. My self-worth is based increasingly on how I treat others. In the presence of my ever-watchful ancestors...

Fishing...

Image
I used to fish for fun and excitement. Then I only fished to eat. Now I rarely fish. And when I do. I thank Ke Akua for providing me the beautiful living sustenance from His magnificent ocean. I truly am humbled by the sacrificial gifts of life. Truly...

Nice Catch...

Image
Elliott still shuts his eyes when he catches a ball. But sometimes he is successful. When the ball lands in his hands and doesn't bounce off of his forehead...

Tailgate...

Image
Brian and I are the parent-teacher representatives for the 2nd grade class at Kamehameha. We have to organize events for the kids and their families. And act as the go between for communication between the teachers, administration and families. It is my second year serving in this capacity. It is a lot of work on top of my regular job but it is important to be involved in your child's school. We had a good turn out of families and kids on a Friday night at Aloha Stadium. Lots of people were too shy to get into the group picture...

Contentment...

Image
I know the look of deep seated contentment in the imagination of far away dreams. If you want to know what it looks like. Just look at my face. When I look at you...
