Vision...

When you have Diabetes and you ignore it, the sugar pulses through your veins tearing up the little veins in your retina. Soon, your ocean skyline Sunsets will start looking like this...

We can learn a lot from Petting Zoo animals about being kind, patient and forgiving with children...

Halemaʻumaʻu...

Halemaʻumaʻu is going to overflow the crater rim this year as I am told by a Hawaiian kaula...

Technology...

I canʻt believe the world my sons live in. Information about anything in the world in seconds. So much visual information. So much information period. I wonder if I had the same technology and access to powerful computers in my childhood, if I would be a drastically different person today. Just playing in the mountains on my bicycle at age 6. Catching guppies in little springs in the middle of nowhere. I truly wonder...

Hōʻailona...

In dry Hawi on the Island of Hawaiʻi, we performed the simple sacred ceremony to honor Ke Akua. Then the rains came. And the double rainbow. And the faces in the sky and the simple figure with the mahiole. Profoundly beautiful. Mahalo piha e na kupuna...

Ancient...

In ʻEwa, I came across a small coral boulder made up of the ancient reef which makes up most of the ʻEwa plain on Oʻahu. There were some shells stuck in the coral. Looks like some fell out. This one was still stuck in the rock. I think it is about 120,000 years old. The same age as the reef. I wonder what happened to the little sluggy snail creature that used to be in the shell. I wonder if he has been crawling around in spirit form for the last 120,000 years...

Yes...

Yes. I feel the same way too...

Paiea...

Kamehameha. In Hawi. Definitely 201o is the year for Kamehameha. I thought about climbing up a ladder so I could look him directly in the eyes. I would probably fall off the ladder...

Mokoliʻi...

Rising from the surface like a massive shark fin. When awoken, it shall voraciously consume the flotsam and jetsam aimlessly awash in avarice and indifference...

Season...

Koaʻs last basketball game of the short season. I rushed to get there but ended up missing most of the game because of work. Sometimes life makes it very difficult to be a good parent...

Strategy...

Sometimes in life, you need to keep bailing your canoe to stay afloat...

Love...

Tonight I watched videos on YouTube from around the world looking up guitar songs as I am moving back into playing guitar. I stopped playing for a decade. A Russian guitarist playing an instrumental version of a Lady Gaga song moved me to tears. Such a beautiful expression of his soul. The expanse of Honolulu at 1:00 on a Sunday morning spreads out in a quiet sleepy still. I connected with my deceased mother tonight. It was so profoundly beautiful. She said to let hurt and anger go. Fill myself with the brightest gentlest forgiving love I can muster. I let it spill all over the dark city as I looked down upon the streets with roaming lost souls. Hopefully some of her love envelopes those in more need than I...

Healing Our Spirit 2010...

More glimpses of Aloha...

Moe Loa...

The long sleep. I gaze upon the Mokapu Penninsula. Also know as Moʻokapu. Mokukapu. Moekapu. I like Moekapu. The forbidden sacred sleep. Tonight the families meet again about the thousands of ancestors sitting in boxes awaiting reburial back to this sacred area now a United States Marine Corps Base. Soon. I know. I see the long sacred sleep my beloved kupuna. Rest your weary head. And soul...
