Hōʻailona...

This is still my favorite Hōʻailona photo taken several years ago. It is of Makua Valley. Just as I was leaving a site visit where the safety of identified burial sites were of major concern during Unexploded Ordnance clearing activities...I snapped a wide angle photo just before getting in my vehicle and departing. It wasn't until I was at home loading the photos...that I saw the large po'o, or skull, without mandible, or lower jaw, in the sky. Right below, a human eye. My boys, looking over my shoulder both exclaimed, "An eye!" They saw it first. I still wonder to this day, if it is Ke Akua's eye...or someone else...
