Bruddah Jerome went down to Kalaupapa to help the patient ʻohana there. He has ʻohana who were sent there for Hansenʻs Disease. It was a beautiful day. He received a most welcoming hoʻailona from Ke Akua and his ancestors. A beautiful rainbow on the Kalawao side of the peninsula. Father Damien, Kamiano, is in the news a lot as he approaches his elevation to Sainthood at the Vatican in a few weeks. What a beautiful example of pure Aloha. Faith. Kindness. Sacrifice. Empathy. Caring. Forgiveness. All the qualities we should all strive for. When the abandoned diseased of mankind needed the loving human touch again, Father Damien embraced wholeheartedly, without fear of deadly contagion, because pure love has no conditions or expectations.
