Marching Saints...

St. Mary's Central High School's Marching Saints from Bismarck, North Dakota marched down Waikiki in the Pan Pacific Parade. They were great. Despite the heat...

Most people from the mainland who come to Hawaii to be in parades look happy, smiling, at their lifelong dream to be in Hawaii..."here I am! We made it! wow, we are in Hawaii!" Especially the young. These kids look wide-eyed, stunned, distracted, even a little freaked out.

Hawaii is very diverse, and mainly made up of nonwhites. These kids are from North Dakota, which, except for two small remote Indian reservations, is all-white.

I don't think these haole kids saw so many brown-skinned folks in all their life, lol.

i'm from that band and we're more concerned with our music than our facial expressions. :)
