Most people from the mainland who come to Hawaii to be in parades look happy, smiling, at their lifelong dream to be in Hawaii..."here I am! We made it! wow, we are in Hawaii!" Especially the young. These kids look wide-eyed, stunned, distracted, even a little freaked out.

Hawaii is very diverse, and mainly made up of nonwhites. These kids are from North Dakota, which, except for two small remote Indian reservations, is all-white.

I don't think these haole kids saw so many brown-skinned folks in all their life, lol.
