Good Luck Charm...

These were from one of the largest antique Billiken collections around in the Juneau Museum. The Billiken was a charm doll created by an American art teacher and illustrator, Ms. Florence Pretz, of Kansas City, Missouri. She saw this mysterious figure in a dream. In 1908, she patented the Billiken who was described as "elf-like with pointed ears, a mischievious smile, and a tuft of hair on a pointed head." His arms are short and he is generally found sitting with his legs stretched out in front of him. He brings good luck. Something tells me that the older I get. The more I will end up looking like a Billiken. If I don't exercise and watch my diet. I have also seen some pretty mysterious figures in my dreams. I won't carve them or patent them however. It may prove to be truly embarrassing...
