Affirmation...

I spent some time driving around the Island of Hawai'i by myself to collect my thoughts and conduct some site visits to areas which I needed to connect with for various cases I am working on. My mind was still pouring through hours and hours of testimony from a full-day of the contested case hearing, including my own testimony and the spontaneous hug from the landowner's wife. Right when I started my long drive back to Kona, I turned on my car radio and love songs started cranking out. I went into a sullen trance as I drove the long desolate road. After the second song began, the radio shut off. No matter what button I pushed, the radio wouldn't come back on. It was a new Dodge Charger with only about 4000 miles on it. I couldn't believe it. I ended up driving in silence contemplating the day's events again. No sooner had I started my silent contemplative drive when a flash of sunlight led my eyes out towards the ocean horizon.

I immediately pulled over on the side of the road. I got out of the car and took a picture. The alignment of the stones, the food of the land, heading out on the pathway of light towards Ke Akua was an affirmation that my actions and decisions that day, to stay on the path of love, honesty and Aloha, were pono. And where I had asked Ke Akua and my kupuna to be with me in the courtroom, they most certainly were present. Ke Akua was giving me the glorious sign of His presence. I was so exhausted, I momentarily broke down again when overcome with the emotions of the day. If my kupuna didn't break my radio, I would have stayed in my moody trance of love songs and missed the message from my angels. Mahalo no e Ke Akua. Mahalo no e na kupuna. I am truly in your service...
