Elliott's class went to the Amy Greenwell Botanical Gardens in South Kona to learn about Native Hawaiian plants and lore. And bananas. I pay a lot more attention to plants and farming. Our Hawaiian kupuna lived an agrarian lifestyle connected to the land and all the natural world. If the shipping barges ever stop coming to Hawaii and bringing food, there will be a huge crisis because we import so much of our food. It is a serious problem. We call it the return of 'aikanaka.
