Too Cool...

The boys know Grandpa was cool when he was young. Parking cars. Lifting weights. Picking up my mother on his Harley and making all her girlfriends swoon and envious. Dad was cooler than James Dean who also parked cars. Dean had a favorite line from Antoine De Saint-Exupery's book, The Little Prince, which a co-worker gave me when she found out I was in the hospital a couple of years ago. His favorite line was, "What is essential is invisible to the eye."

Dad made sure he never crossed the line of risk so that he would survive and bear children. And a son to carry on the family name. And now grandsons to carry on the family name. And an ability to let James Dean's favorite book have new meaning through his own son and grandsons. Except the whole line is actually "On nei voit bien qu'avec le couer, les essentiel invisible pour les yeux." Which translates to "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye." Remember that. It is only with the heart that one can see rightly...
